Four sentences in which Stanley discovers the tent's hidden constitution. Nobody announces the rule; Stanley reads it from repetition — 'They always lined up in the same order... no matter who got there first.' Notice the words 'Stanley realized,' set off by commas in the middle of the sentence: the writer marks the exact instant a pattern becomes a rule in Stanley's mind. Then the order itself is recited like a roll call: X-Ray first, Zero last. Copy all four sentences, keeping the commas around 'Stanley realized' and every name capitalized. The craft here is observation — the chapter teaches how to notice the rules nobody says aloud.
