About This Passage

This passage introduces Jonas as someone who picks words with care, which is an important part of who he is. It also shows the warm friendship between Jonas and Asher, even though the two friends are very different.

Jonas was careful about language. Not like his friend, Asher, who talked too fast and mixed things up, scrambling words and phrases until they were barely recognizable and often very funny.
