This is the chapter's chase scene. The blue Goat (who is the Fairy in another shape) is on a rock calling for Pinocchio to hurry, and the Dogfish-monster is racing after him with an open mouth. Collodi makes Pinocchio swim with everything he has — arms, chest, legs, feet — so the reader can feel the whole little wooden body trying.
