About This Passage

This is the Fox's invented description of the Field of Miracles. Copying it lets young students hear the syrupy, magical-sounding language a trickster uses to disguise a lie. The passage also contains three of the chapter's vocabulary words: gold, field, and tree.

In the meantime, during the night, the gold piece begins to grow and blossom; and the next morning, returning to the field, guess what you find? Why, you find a tree loaded with gold pieces!
