About This Passage
These three short sentences show how the author tells us the children have arrived in a new place. The first sentence uses LOOMED — a strong word for something big appearing suddenly out of fog. The next two sentences show Jack noticing little things that prove this is not home anymore. Young writers will practice using one strong verb (loomed) and small careful observations to show a big change.
A huge castle loomed out of the fog. Jack looked around. The treehouse was in a different oak tree.
