Notice the rhythm: each sentence is one small step in Frog's careful work. The repetition of "He" and "Frog" makes the prose feel patient, like the work itself. 2. Lobel could have written the chapter so that Frog noticed the problem and apologized openly, and they fixed the hat together. Instead, Frog fixes the hat in secret while Toad sleeps. Why this choice? What does the secret give Toad that an open repair would not have?
