About This Passage
This is part of the story Sara invents to comfort the motherless Lottie, a vision of heaven as a real, sunny country. Instead of the usual stiff pictures of angels with wings, Sara paints a place a child can almost touch, where children gather flowers and no one is ever tired. The repeated 'And' at the start of each sentence gives the passage the gentle, rolling rhythm of a dream spoken aloud. Copying it lets a student study how simple words and steady rhythm can make an imaginary place feel warm and real.
And little children run about in the lily-fields and gather armfuls of them, and laugh and make little wreaths. And the streets are shining. And no one is ever tired, however far they walk.

What does the contrast between their two kinds of leadership reveal about why the younger children adore Sara, and why? Use the chapter's details to explain.
- When Lottie throws a tantrum, the adults try threats and force while Sara simply sits down beside her and says, 'Neither have I.' Why might Sara's quiet honesty succeed where the grown-ups' authority fails? Use the chapter's details to explain.
